Our family always comes here when in Nags Head. We have come for years and the experience is always good. I don’t care about COVID requirements but we always abide by the rules. This place is in full compliance too.

the service and ice cream were both extraordinary! i can’t recommend this place enough for anyone who wants some incredible ice cream and fun souvenirs! i believe they have 45 flavors of dairy ice cream, and typically 8 of the non-dairy flavors, totaling to over 50 types! additionally their prices are incredibly reasonable for the amount of ice cream, not to mention the quality of it. i tried the honey roasted peanut butter as my first and only sample and i knew i had to get it :) DEFINITELY a must if you’re in the area!

Best ice cream ever! I tried two flavors that I’ve never had anywhere before and really liked it. My hubby loved it too! Super cute shop attached too where I ended up buying a dress and necklace and all the employee are so nice and kind. We didn’t have time to take surf lessons while staying there but when we go back that will be where I go for a lesson for sure! And their dog Zeus is just the sweetest lazy dog I’ve ever pet!

Great business, great ice cream, and great with food allergies. Highly recommend for a nice cold treat on a hot day.

Amazing staff who went out of their way to treat a couple of outsiders like they were locals. Truly appreciate their knowledge of everything surf and their ice cream is top notch as well!

COVID-19 Trap. Don’t go if you are at risk. Overpacked, long indoor line, few masks, poor ventilation. No gloves on ice cream scoopers.

My wife and I have been coming here for four years and it’s always a great experience. We only come once a year but they still remember us and even asked how our newborn was doing since we had brought him the year before. Great people and service! I’ll skip five other ice cream shops just for this one. The ice cream is also always amazing.

I love this place. I love how its family owned! Its so nice each year to see the same familiar faces. I've been coming to this shop for atleast 7 years now. It's definitely a tradition of mine each time im in the OBX. Would highly recommend!! Also the icecream is yum!

In the current climate everything was clean, fast and efficient. Great quality ice cream.

The prices at the surf shop of less than half of the rental prices at any other location in the area (Kitty Hawk Kites, etc). Amazing service. The friendliest staff. Someone in our group took surfing lessons from the two young men and they were extremely helpful. The older gentleman in charge of the surf shop is very kind and gives lots of tips. The ice cream is also very good and generously portioned.

Great ice cream! The owner man who served us was somewhat curt and seemed in a sour mood. Still recommend though.

Great place for ice cream! Surf shop staff and owners are nice, personable and knowledgeable. Surfboards are made in the USA! Great family oriented shop. Don't forget to say hi to their handsome rescue dog Zeus!

Matt is extremely funny and had our grandchildren rolling. Plus he made them all something with his fabulous balloon making skills!

Not only the best ice cream but the young man working stayed open late to accommodate our 15 person group. He did it with a smile and truly made us feel welcome We all had a great time. He even took pictures with our group when I’m sure he would have rather closed up and gone home. Highly recommend supporting this business

My immediate and extended family have been going to Scammell’s for years. We always go as a big group and enjoy the singing. We visited on 7/10 but it seemed different. The staff seemed glum and on edge I’m assuming to the stress of the pandemic. After my 3 had her ice cream, we went to the surf shop to find a souvenir for her to remember her trip. I lost sight of her for about a minute and her excitement and was approached by the owner. He firmly told me “you need to control her.“ thinking he was joking, I got sarcastic and he puffed up at me with aggression. This took me totally by surprise because I’ve had good conversations with him during other visits.

Scammell's Corner Surf Shop and Ice Cream Shop is a must-visit location next time you're in the area! The ice cream is every bit as quality as you'd expect (I got a shake) and the service is good! When I ordered, I actually asked the man behind the counter to just choose a flavor for my shake. What I got was surprising and delightful (I won't tell you what it was, but it wasn't quite a normal menu item!).The surf shop down below was equally charming, and there's a resident dog named Zeus. He is so calm and pleasant to chill with.In addition, the whole place is decked out with fun antique toys, comic books, and miscellaneous curios. Give Scammell's a visit; you won't regret it!

Wow - neat experience, great customer service, and great ice cream! Went here in vacation with wife/kids. The place was packed but the line moved fast, so don't let a long line discourage you.

Ate a big banana split with my ol lady down at the beach and holy moley is it yummy...but i will say that Thor the big white doggy friend is very wise and he shared with me the secret recipe. Voltar's forture that i received was an ill omen for my stomach after the dairy interacts with my colon...

This is a staple stop every time we come to OBX. Thankfully we stay close enough to walk. Great atmosphere and ice cream.

We went there every night we were in Nags Head! Excellent flavors!! I think between all of us we tried every flavor! Given our current environment, it totally safe. They only let a certain number of customers in at a time, 6 ft. markers on the floor and everyone wore masks. And of course you can enjoy your treat outside! This should definitely be a stop to make in OBX!

Delicious ice cream, friendly service, and all proper covid precautions (masks, distancing, sanitizer, etc) are in place. Our favorite flavor was Cookies Vs. Peanut butter, but close behind that we’re the Heavenly Hazelnut and Graham Central station. Definitely give it a try. Lots of GF options and several DF ones too!

Amazing customer services! Loved the owner singing as he would work! Not to loud and a great voice! Over 50 flavors. If you are chocolate caramel fan you need to get the Midnight Caramel River! If I lived here I'd go at least once a week!

Great place to get ice cream.. . We did, every night lol. Walking distance from our rental. Supper nice scoopers, cashier lady could.have smiled a bit more but everyone had a bad day. . . Bad week? Lol either way they have lots of flavors and fun atmosphere.

Great place. You enter through a small surf shop. You can browse the items there as you wait in line. Don't forget to pet the store dog, Zeus, while there. The line moves well. It gets crowded due.to it's popularity. Once in the ice cream shop you will find it is covered floor to ceiling with comic book and sci-fi memorabilia. The ice cream servers sing as they prepare the cones, sundaes, and shakes. And when your order is ready, they will sing out to you. A convenient hand cleaning station is located outside on the south side of the building.

What awesome customer service and variety of choices. I love that they sing to you and keep you entertained when you go in. Even with a line out the door, they are kind and friendly every single time!

This is hands down the BEST place to get ice cream in Nags Head. The ice cream was great, but the owners were the best part. They’re so down to earth and will let you talk their ears off for 45 minutes about anything and everything. Two of the greatest souls you’ll get to meet!

My waffle cone with chocolate ice cream was great! The singing servers were great entertainment. Plus I won the raffle! It happens every night at 9:30! Good luck!

This was such a great find at the beginning of our vacation! We visited 4 out of 6 days that we stayed, and it was just as awesome every single time we went. My nephew told his mom when they have an extra eight hours, they should drive to Nags Head just for this ice cream shop!

We stopped here for ice cream on June 17, 2020, due to the great reviews. Unfortunately, none of the staff were wearing masks, and there was not an option for ordering that allowed for safe distancing. We left. With cases in the rise in NC, we expected better of such a popular spot.

While the selection is huge, it's from Hershey and not made on site. Tried to get a sample of flavors I wasn't sure of, but was confused when asked to order something first. Would have rather went somewhere else for more fresh/local ice cream. Singing was a bit odd; not like it was some production - just the servers singing random bits of songs loudly.

I can't say enough good things about this place. I only know it for ice cream and creative merchandise, not any lessons. It is a family run place, clean and well cared for. Great service and attention to detail than at that other place down the road - no comparison!

We got single scoops, and they were very large. Very patient employee as my kids made their choices. Go into the door on the right, the left is exit only as we (to our slight embarrassment) discovered. All Hershey’s ice cream, and all very good.
